This is an easy, fun class suited to all skill levels, and anyone who wants to try three new super adaptable techniques. It’s called Scrapplique because it is appliqué with scraps. Super useful for quilters who can end up with more scraps than they know what to do with!
You will end up with two to three pieces of Scrapplique fabric – perfect for turning into a fun project. You will try three different ‘scrapplique’ techniques. The first, an addictive ‘collage’ method using a unique wash away stabiliser which is super fun and wildly popular, the second, a raw edge appliqué variation, and the third, a turned edge style, also using a stabilising applique paper. All three techniques use straight-line or matchstick machine stitching to hold the mini scraps in place and forming an interesting textured fabric.
We have two days for this class so we have the luxury of time to play with the techniques and/or complete some finished objects. Scrapplique fabric pieces may be turned into a zippered pouch, table runner, cushion or similar.
