Sharon Nicholls-Thomson is a prolific maker with Visual Art Education qualifications. She’s been making patchwork since she was 15 when she made an entirely patchwork outfit of shorts and t-shirt one school holidays. She has worked as a patchwork and quilting teacher for the past 15 years. Sharon is the owner of Berry Quilt & Co. an online and pop-up shop specializing in fun, scrappy kits packs and makes. (Berry Quilt & Co was until early 2024, a busy and vibrant brick and mortar patchwork and quilting store in Berry NSW) . Sharon has interest in both modern and traditional quilts, entering both styles in various member shows nationally. Sharon is the current Vice President of Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild, undertaking Modern Quilt education programs there. In her down time, Sharon makes all styles of quilts and plays with alternative techniques for teaching. She judges quilt challenges and shows and has had projects published in the Australian magazines Quilter’s Companion and Homespun.
Sharon has a tertiary teaching qualifications and plenty of experience teaching adults, teens and children. She has visual arts and design training and worked in the contemporary crafts and touring exhibition fields. She currently operates a retail business in the Australian quilting market and is involved in voluntary roles in a number of local and state quilting guilds.
