Description

Another that has always been on my list, a design that works like an endless chain. Crossings began, as I was looking for a way to use a border fabric in a different way and uses a 7-inch block. The 2 days will give you time to ensure accuracy as there are 16 seams in a block and it does demand accuracy and problem solving. Boronia Blossoms is the same design but not on point and uses a 12-inch block. So you will need to choose the size you prefer working with and then your setting when pieced.

Circle Fun CHOOSE from Propelled OR Moonbeams OR Around the Sun

I will be teaching 3 different quilts in this class, but they all have similarities. I love circular patterns, and these quilts all rely on mostly circular patterns inserted into squares. The class focusses on techniques that you will be able to use repeatedly. I love using lots of fabrics in a quilt too and if I run out of something I add another.

Propelled is a quilt that I designed in about 2005 and finished in 2009, and it is a big quilt at 235 cm square. It has interesting selection of reproduction style fabrics in madders, greens, shirtings and blacks.

Moonbeams is a 7-inch block (100cm square), Seasons and Full Moon are 12-inch blocks are all from the same pattern but finish at about 180cm square. Moonbeams uses a limited palette of acid yellow, green, double pink and indigo. Seasons uses 4 different colours to represent the seasonal changes, but with lots of tonal variations of each of the four colours. (Please note that I will not have this quilt as it has been gifted). Full Moon is a more recent finish and uses modern colours also with a little fussy cutting.

Around the Sun is one of my latest finishes and has only 2 blocks, the sunburst and the star. The sunburst block has always been on my To-Do list. Around the Sun is a big quilt too at 230cm square. If you want to make this quilt you will need 5.5-6m of background fabric, or simply do whatever blocks you want. Lots of fussy cutting if you want.
